What Are R Values And Why Are They Important?

February 25, 2021

While there are lots of insulation materials, including foil, bulk, spray foam, foam board and cork, we prefer to use highly insulated panels with polyurethane foam to create a modern look that requires zero maintenance. Polyurethane insulation has one of the highest R-values per inch in the industry; higher than polystyrene insulation. This makes our insulation far more effective and less bulky. For example, one of our 6’’ thick panels is equal to 12’’ of butt insulation!

Lamelli’s foam wall and roof panels are energy efficient, fire and moisture resistant, reusable and can be made in any colour or pattern. Our highly insulated wall and roof panels give you very high R-values suitable for both harsh canadian winters and warm summers.

As a sustainable home builder, we understand the pivotal role high quality insulation plays in lowering energy waste and costs, because your home’s heating and cooling systems don’t have to work as hard to maintain a certain temperature. Insulation can certainly pay off down the line.

We also understand that it is important for the air in your home to stay fresh and circulate. That’s why we pair our highly insulated panels with heat recovery ventilation systems to ensure there is always a flow of fresh air coming into your home without burdening your heating and cooling systems.
